Common back diagnoses

Identifying the typical spine conditions

Spinal stenosis is a condition where there is narrowing of the tube (the spinal canal), which houses your spinal cord and nerves. The narrowing can potentially put pressure or squeeze those nerves. While the most common type of stenosis is degenerative, meaning it comes from ordinary wear and tear, compression of nerves can come from ligaments, disc material, cysts, bone spurs or any combination of these conditions.
